Global Fund for Children
The Global Fund for Children seeks out and supports grassroots organizations around the world that work with some of the most vulnerable children and youth with small grants. It believes that local grassroots organizations are best equipped to address the issues facing their own communities, but often do not have the financial resources or the capacity to leverage their growth. GFC recognizes the potential of these undervalued locally-driven efforts and invests in these organizations to help them become stronger, more sustainable, and better able to serve children in their own communities.
GFC supports groups that work in the areas of Learning, Enterprise, Safety, and Healthy Minds and Bodies. Its partners meet children where they are—investing in programs, such as classrooms on boats for children who live in flooded areas and nutrition programs for innocent children living in prisons with their incarcerated parents.
It reaches out to young people in the United States by creating children’s books that promote diversity and illustrate the common experiences of children from different corners of the world. It also invests in documentary films and photography that bring the stories of children around the globe to wider audiences to further promote and engage people in learning more about the issues facing marginalized and vulnerable children.
Since 1997, GFC has distributed nearly $20 million in grants to more than 427
groups in 76 countries worldwide.
