An education allows you to take advantage of whatever opportunities you might be fortunate enough have. Unfortunately, millions upon millions abroad and in the United States have neither opportunity nor the means to take advantage of it. Educational systems, schools and libraries are inadequate and crumbling, robbing too many of the chance to build a better life for themselves. Substandard and insufficient educational resources for children at an early age have enduring consequences for all of society. Striving to ensure an adequate education to the hundreds of millions of children lacking it isn’t merely the right thing to do, it’s the greatest gift we can give to humanity because it makes all of us more able to deal with the hard facts and labors of life, and allows us to build a better world for generations to come.
