Stand for Children
The Stand for Children Leadership Center is a leadership development and education organization that trains everyday parents, teachers, and others concerned about children’s issues to be effective community leaders. Stand for Children’s community leaders and advocates are organized in local Chapters and state affiliates capable of holding public officials accountable for prioritizing children’s needs. We focus particularly on achieving education reforms and investments aimed at providing all children with the education they need to be successful, productive citizens in the 21st century.
Chapters conduct local advocacy campaigns as needed, and work together on annual legislative campaigns to achieve reform and improved investments in education. We achieve our goals by mobilizing supporters for many types of advocacy, including public rallies and forums to raise awareness; testifying at city council, school board, and legislative committee hearings; urging local decision makers and state legislators to support our priorities through both face-to-face meetings and phone/email contact; and publishing letters to the editor and guest editorials in local and statewide news media.
